Crewe, December 6th, 2011 – Boldon James Classifier minimises data loss via email to ensure company-wide adherence to ISO 27001, the international best practise for an Information Security Management System, and governmental marketing schemes such as the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS) in the UK and the emerging Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) scheme in the US. Classifier enables the user to place security labels on outgoing emails in line with the organisation’s security policy and, because it is fully integrated with Microsoft® Outlook® Web Access (OWA), this latest version of OWA Classifier utilises existing policy management software to invoke and apply the correct levels of security on outgoing communications. The upgrade is available free of charge to existing Boldon James OWA Classifier customers. New users can trial the solution at the Boldon James website.

Uniquely, Boldon James OWA Classifier supports both the Premium and Light interface of Microsoft OWA. Whilst the Light interface provides a simpler user experience, it supports a comprehensive range of web browsers and has also been optimised by Microsoft to make it accessible to blind or low vision users.

This latest release of OWA Classifier provides customers of Microsoft Exchange 2010 the opportunity to offer their web email users the features already utilised by network connected users of Boldon James’ Email Classifier.
Policy Checking
Enforcement of Policy Checks – OWA Classifier now supports a range of policy checking rules, including:
- Clearance checks to detect attempts to send material to inappropriate recipients
- High watermark check to ensure attachment labels do not exceed that of the email
- Label change check to detect inappropriate changes to the label of an email
- Label validity check to identify missing mandatory label elements
Policy Feedback to Users – With the addition of policy checking rules, OWA Classifier now provides a policy feedback dialogue. This dialogue displays feedback messages to the user relating to individual policy violations and may be used to provide advisory warnings or to explain why an action is blocked. All the feedback messages can be customised and each may be associated with a specific help URL that can be used to offer additional online guidance to the user.
Clearance Checking Rules – OWA Classifier now supports the Clearance Checking of both Email Users and Domains. The Clearance Checking feature compares label values against sender and recipient clearance levels. Administrators can specify the level of information which particular users, groups or external domains can receive as clearances, thus controlling the distribution of information in a granular manner and preventing inadvertent information leaks.
Management and Control
Common Administration – The configuration of OWA Classifier is unified with other Classifier components under the comprehensive Classifier Administration console. This simplifies the setting and management of common policy rules and offers the full flexibility of the rule setting capability offered by Classifier Administration.
