BACKGROUND:
Boldon James (BJ) are a 60 person company with an annual £6 million turnover where the major focus is on Messaging Solutions for ‘Defence’ systems, e.g. UK MoD, US DoD.
Recent projects won include:
i) The supply of Messaging clients (SAFEmail.mil) to the UK MoD DII (Defence Information Infrastructure) project as a sub-contractor to the ATLAS EDS consortium (ie. An Atlas/EDS £2.3 billion project overall).
ii) 10 year maintenance and enhancement programme to support Lockheed Martin on the US DoD High Grade DMS (Defense Messaging System).

TEST ROLE:
The role will comprise working in the BJ military messaging product group, see website for product descriptions including SAFEmail.mil, SAFEmail.net, MasterKeyplus, ACP145 Gateways. www.boldonjames.com
This opportunity will require working closely within the project teams to extend our product test capability for the Boldon James suite of messaging products. The target environment will be a Microsoft Outlook, Exchange based solution for high grade military messaging which involves security, signing/encryption based products. The BJ products are in essence ‘plug-ins’ to MS exchange and Outlook which provide ‘value add’ to support the military messaging extensions required to extend a COTS based Microsoft messaging system to “high grade” standards such as STANAG 4406.
At the detail level the role will involve, defining, running and managing test programmes on specific product releases, reporting directly into the project manager. In particular we are looking for individuals who can not only follow the test discipline required to help produce quality releases but also have the vision and initiative to help shape and improve our testing procedures and practices going forward.

TESTING ENVIRONMENT:
Microsoft Messaging Application on Microsoft Platforms to include all standard Windows Platforms (NT4 through to 2003 Client/Server).
Messaging Applications to include Microsoft Exchange V5.5 and 2003/2007 Microsoft Office 2003, 2007 Applications, Outlook & Web Clients in the form of Outlook Web Access.
The Testing Role will comprise specification and implementation of manual and automated test scripts for the above applications.

KNOWLEDGE:
Computer literate in Microsoft Platforms and technologies as specified above.
At least 5 years experience in software product testing for commercial market sectors.
A degree in computer science or equivalent.

• Flexible
• Willing to travel (where required)

DEVELOPMENT SKILLS IN THE FOLOWING AREAS ARE DESIRABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
• Languages: Visual C++, JAVA, SQL
• Databases: MS Access
• Web Development: HTML, ASP
• Compilers: Visual C++, C#
