SAFEmeeting
Developed as part of the Boldon James Secure Information Exchange, SAFEmeeting has been built to provide the same level of Security, Identification and Assurances that Boldon James makes available across the Micorsoft Unified Communications Platform. In essence, it takes the core functionality of the Microsoft Office Communications Server platforms and adds a number of key Boldon James components to provide the additional assurances that our customer need
SAFEmeeting is an application that intercepts all attempts to initiate Meetings, Instant Messaging sessions or Conference calls using Microsoft Outlook and Office Communications Server and verifies that all such sessions conform to 'Policy'. It utilises a number of the Secure Information Exchange components such as Labeling, Capability Checker and can make use of Directories
The SAFEmeeting product is realised as an add-in to Outlook to setup conferences and a service that is used by Office Communications Server to verify participants as they attempt to join in the scheduled meeting.
Live Meetings and Conference Calls can be setup via Outlook. The SAFEmeeting add-in adds as 'Security Label' button to the new forms, the user fills the form as normal, but when they click 'Send' the SAFEmeeting add-in performs the following actions:
- It first checks that the user has composed a Security Label or request then to do so.
- It then checks that each meeting participant is cleared to attend this meeting by checking the participants 'clearance' against the label.
- Any participant failing the check must be removed from the meeting or the label changed.
Further checks are then made when a participant attempts to join a meeting. A check is made that the person making the request was actually invited to the meeting and hasn't just been forwarded the meeting requests by another participant. If the user was invited SAFEmeeting then rechecks the participant’s clearance against the Security Label on the meeting to ensure that nothing has changed. SAFEmeeting uses the Labeler and Capability Checker modules that form part of the Version 3 architecture. SAFEmeeting can share its configuration data with other products.
