German Bundeswehr Selects EADS and Partners Including Boldon James to Supply Military Message Handling System
EADS has been successful in its bid to win the contract to supply the German Bundeswehr with its Military Message handling System. The selection of the system is testament to the quality of the support and development services provided by EADS and its partners including Boldon James.
Typically Boldon James SAFEmail.mil components used in MMHS systems include plug-in components for Microsoft Outlook to create military messages, to access LDAP/X.500 directories, to sign and encrypt military content and to generally deliver the complex requirements of high grade military messaging through a user friendly COTS product set. SAFEmail.mil components are deployed throughout the UK MoD and in Australia, New Zealand, Greece, USA, Turkey and other NATO environments.

EADS Defence and Communications Systems receives contract award for Military Message Handling System with the German Bundeswehr
Friedrichshafen, Germany 14. July 2004 – EADS Defence and Commu-nications Systems has been awarded a contract for € 20 million by the German Bundeswehr IT Office to provide the Military Message Handling System for the Bundeswehr by the end of 2005. NuKomBw (Nutzerorientierte Kommunikation der Bundeswehr) will provide the high and medium grade formal message exchange for the armed forces for security levels up to Top Secret. EADS will install the Message Handling System in over 280 Bundeswehr sites, replacing the existing legacy teletype system and usher in a new wave of secure communication, using the existing IP-based Bundeswehr network infrastructure.
'A successful operational field trial beginning in 2003 and lasting approximately one year pre-empted the contract award for EADS' DCS line of business C3I. We have proven our competency and expertise in this field', stated Stefan Zoller, President and CEO of EADS Defence and Communications Systems.
The contract awarded for the roll out of NuKomBw includes a nation-wide directory service, integrates the existing commercial email system, and provides gateways to other national or international systems includ-ing NATO´s emerging messaging system. EADS will furnish over 40 racks with servers, switches and security equipment as well as separate Reference and Training Systems. The project includes all engineering services from site planning up to operational support.
