Fujitsu VME Web Browser Connectivity
Our IMPART*X Suite provides innovative communications components designed specifically for Internets and Intranets.
Web browsers are fast becoming the de-facto standard desktop application. For example, word processors, spreadsheets, email and other business applications are now available that use a web browser as their main interface. This leaves legacy systems, whether mainframes or UNIX applications, and re-engineered interfaces using client-server technologies, behind.
Our IMPART*X suite has been designed to meet this demand for web browser interfaces. It’s a suite of web-based emulation, communications products and toolkits that provide innovative, reliable, high-performance web connectivity to legacy servers.

IMPART*X Product Suite
VEGA
A fully featured UNIX VT emulator, packaged and downloadable from any web server to run in a 32-bit Wintel browser environment over an existing Internet/Intranet connection.
ARION
A fully featured VME emulator and transport stack, which is downloadable from any web server to run in a 32-bit Wintel browser environment over an existing Internet/Intranet connection.
LIBRA
A dynamic server-based converter between VME screens and HTML pages that runs on a Microsoft Windows NT web server, offering access to VME systems from a web browser.
SCRIPTOR
Microsoft ActiveX components packaged as a toolkit, allows users to build custom applications, re-engineer legacy applications (e.g. by screen scraping) or to integrate VME emulation into existing applications.
VIRTUA
Microsoft ActiveX components packaged as a toolkit, allows users to build custom applications to re-engineer legacy applications or to integrate VT320 emulation into existing UINX applications.
PICTOR
Allows Internet clients to receive VME print output using web browsers. This output can be viewed, printed or saved from the web browser and no additional client software or downloads are required.
IMPART VBT
Provides a rapid and cost effective means of using Visual Basic to create customised Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for existing VME mainframe applications.
JARION
A Java version of ARION. The components are contained in signed JAR files that are automatically downloaded to the web client PC when the client visits a web page containing JARION. No special communications or IMPART product installations are necessary on the web clients.
XMLIBRA
Provides web browser access to VME systems and extends the basic rendering of VME screens in HTML provided by LIBRA. Using XML and a screen configuration utility, different XSL sheets can be assigned to different VME screens rendering selected screens in a custom manner. Fields can also be pre-populated on screen and redundant screens can be bypassed improving operator efficiency.
JXMLIBRA
A Java version of XMLIBRA running on any web server with a servlet engine. This can either be a standalone product such as Apache Tomcat, or a web server plug-in to IIS (Windows) or Apache HTTP Server (Windows/UNIX). The product has been tested with Tomcat on Windows and AIX and has also been run successfully with Atlanta Communications ServletExec plug-in to IIS.
PRINT MANAGER
Extends the capabilities of the IMPART Direct Print Facility (DPF) to provide server-based web publishing capability for the output from VMR print requests. DPF can also be configured to write its output to filestore as XML files rather than directly to a printer.
For each DPF print service, the print files saved are partitioned in directories depending on the date received. Within each directory, the files are further partitioned depending on the classification of the file derived from its contents. PRINT MANAGER then provides a web publishing service for the XML files which can be viewed and printed via any web browser. It also includes a service where print files that are more than a certain number of days old, are automatically deleted.
