Boldon James Announces New X.400 Bridgehead for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

Boldon James, a Microsoft messaging specialist for Defence, Intelligence and Homeland Security, is delighted to announce it has developed a new X.400 Bridgehead Server for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. The Bridgehead will provide continued interoperability for existing users of X.400 on Exchange Server 2003, especially in the Defence and Aviation Sectors.

Boldon James’ new X.400 Bridgehead for Exchange Server 2007 is the result of the continuing close working relationship between Boldon James and the Microsoft Exchange Server development team in Redmond, Washington, USA. It supports the very latest X.400 interoperability standards for both Defence and Aviation sectors, and demonstrates the flexibility of Microsoft Exchange Server to support 3rd party connector development.

'I’m very pleased with this project and our resulting Bridgehead. We spent a few weeks on site in Redmond working with the Microsoft Exchange development team to ensure that the new interfaces in Exchange Server 2007 would support X.400 user needs. The actual testing went very smoothly,' comments Richard Bailey, Development Director at Boldon James.

He added: 'We are pleased with the advancements made in the Exchange Server 2007 architecture which provides a significantly improved development environment. Once we started the work, it soon became obvious that the new interfaces are much easier to use than the previous ones.'

'We are pleased to see companies like Boldon James taking advantage of Exchange Server 2007 APIs to develop solutions to meet the needs of Exchange Server 2007 customers,' said Donna Conner, Group Product Manager of Exchange Server marketing at Microsoft Corp.. 'Boldon James’ new X.400 Bridgehead will help address the needs of this very important market segment.'

The Bridgehead supports the latest 1999 ITU X.400 standards, as well as the important Defence (STANAG4406, ACP123, ACP120 and ACP145) and Aviation (ICAO Doc 9705 SARPS) industry standards. It is packaged as an Exchange Server Extension Component with all configuration and management via a MMC Snap-in. In addition, it makes full use of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange Server management tools.

'X.400 continues to be an important international interoperability protocol, especially in the Defence and Aviation sectors. Our new X.400 Bridgehead for Exchange Server 2007 will ensure that these industries can continue to benefit from Microsoft Exchange Server’s COTS performance, reliability and pricing for many years to come,' concludes Stuart Battersby, Business Development Director at Boldon James.
