Boldon James’ Software Powers England’s Motorway Network

Boldon James OSI Transport is helping to keep motorists and the Highways Agency informed and the police aware of  road traffic conditions on the Highways Agency’s motorway and trunk road network in England.

The National Traffic Control Centre (NTCC), located in the West Midlands, is responsible for the monitoring all of England’s motorways. The NTCC recognised the value of using state of the art communications technology to help keep our roads moving and turned to Serco’s Integrated Transport division to help it deploy its communications network.

The communications network allows the NTCC and Regional Control Centres to stay informed of the current conditions of England’s motorways and major A roads. The NTCC acts as the hub and collects and distributes information in real time. The communications network also delivers information to the motorists via its network of advanced electronic road signs.

Underpinning the gathering and dissemination of information within the communications  network is Boldon James OSI transport which helps ensure the reliable delivery of this critical information.

The NTCC network is continually evolving utilising the latest technology to help keep England’s motorways running smoothly
