AFTN to AMHS Gateway - A SARPS compliant solution supporting the migration from the legacy Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network (AFTN) to a modern Air Traffic Services Message Handling system (AMHS).
The Boldon James AFTN to AMHS Gateway provides a solution for connectivity between traditional AFTN and modern AMHS messaging networks and for staged migration to a modern AMHS solution. It’s designed for Civil Aviation Authorities who are required to connect to AMHS or need to undergo a staged migration to AMHS.
The Gateway provides very simple interfaces designed to allow third party AFTN switches to communicate with the Gateway quickly and easily. The gateway already fully inter-operates with both Copperchase’s and SITTI’s AFTN systems.
How it Works
The Gateway is a high-performance, multi-protocol, bi-directional message switch that complies with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Standards and recommended Practises (SARPS) for the Air Traffic Services Message Handling System (ATSMHS) and, more specifically, to the AFTN/AMHS Gateway specified within these SARPS. Based on the industry standard MS Exchange 2003 Server and its in-built high performance and GOSIP approved X400 MTA, the equipment paves the way for a seamless transition from today's AFTN service to the future X.400 based Advanced Message Handling Service for ATS messages.
